Stacked terracotta composter
Born in Across India.
How it works
Three stacked clay pots turn kitchen scraps into compost on a balcony: the porous terracotta breathes, keeping the pile aerobic and odour-free while microbes work. When the top pot fills, the stack rotates; the bottom pot is finished compost.
In a modern home
A composter the size of a stool handles a family's wet waste and feeds the balcony garden; housing societies scale the same idea into shared compost stations.
